What’s that song? – The ITV Tour de France theme tune

“What is that song on the Tour de France adverts on ITV – the one about the perfect start and the finish line?” my colleague asked me in work. I didn’t know, but as I’d also found the music beguiling, I did a bit of searching. So in case you are interested…

…you can watch the advert on YouTube – where the song is identified as Youth by the group Daughter: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IPyL5kV_MkY

…it apparently comes from their EP “The Wild Youth”

…it is available to download on Amazon:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Daughter/e/B001LHN42M/ref=sr_tc_2_0?qid=1340120092&sr=1-2-ent
(scroll down to see downloads). NB Some albums on this page may be from an earlier group of same name.

…and some background from Last.fm http://www.last.fm/music/Daughter:

Daughter is Elena Tonra, a singer/songwriter from North London, UK. After releasing a 4 track Demo EP, Elena joined forces with Igor Haefeli to produce ‘His Young Heart EP’ in April 2011. On November 2011, with the addition of Remi Aguilella on drums, ‘The Wild Youth – EP’ was released via Communion Records.

Hope you enjoy.

  1. Can’t say it does a huge amount for me, but it’s certainly better than the awful theme that ITV4 have used for years as their theme music for TdF coverage. How about a mass social media protest to have it changed? The previous one used by (?)BBC2 was a whole lot better, not that I can recall it – probably got it on a very old video somewhere. MarkW
